WHY YOU NEED TO OIL A WOOD BOARD
HOW TO OIL YOUR WOOD CUTTING BOARD
You will need:
2. Pour the oil: Pour a small pool of oil in the centre of the board, about the diameter of a quarter. This might seem like a lot, but it can absorb a lot of oil.
3. Rub it in: Use the rag to rub the oil in small, circular strokes.
Do this all over the board, including both sides and the ends. Make sure the oil permeates all the crevices.
Keep adding more oil, if needed. Prop the board on its side so it’s upright, and let the board absorb the oil overnight.
WHEN TO OIL YOUR CUTTING BOARD
You will know when its time to oil your board. It’ll look dry and greyish, with a light-coloured patch in the centre.
Do it twice a season—eight times a year. The more you wash your board, the more often you need to oil it.
